Gujarat on high alert: Anandiben Patel says 'nothing to worry'

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel on Sunday assured the people that there was nothing to worry, adding the state government is taking appropriate security measures to ensure safety for the people in the wake of report that around ten terrorists have entered the state.

"There is nothing to worry about. We are taking appropriate security measures to ensure," Patel said in the national capital on the sidelines of the two-day National Conference of Women Legislators.

The Gujarat administration has tightened security across the state, especially along its coastal belt, following a note by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval about the possible infiltration.

The alert was sounded in Kutch district that shares both land and sea border with Pakistan.

Meanwhile, A.K. Jadeja, IG, Gujarat Police, said that all the security forces including the BSF, police, coast guard and others are working on the inputs to identify people who have entered illegally either by land or sea.

"We have received inputs from the Intelligence Bureau that around 8-10 terrorists of LeT or JeM have entered Gujarat. The BSF, Police, Coast Guard and other agencies are working on the inputs to identify people who entered illegally either by land or sea," Jadeja said.

Four National Security Guard (NSG) squads have been rushed to Gujarat following the input by Pakistan National Security Adviser (NSA) Nasir Khan Janjua to his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval that 10 terrorists had entered the state to carry out strikes.

The Pakistan's NSA informed that these are fidayeen from the Lashkar-E-Taiba and Jaish-e Muhammed cadres.

The NSG teams are on standby and a high-level alert has been sounded across the state.

Important monuments and pilgrimage centres like Somnath temple, Dwarka Temple, Akashardham, power plants, defence, dams like Sardar Sarovar Dam and security establishments have also been put on alert.

The warning from Pakistan comes after five abandoned Pakistani boats found in the past three months in Kutch.

An abandoned boat was found by a BSF patrolling team off Koteshwar coast in Kutch on Friday.
