The Gujjar agitation for 5% reservation in government jobs entered its eighth day today, with hundreds of protesters still blocking railway tracks in Pilupura.
Meanwhile, state Chief Secretary C S Rajan and DGP Manoj Bhatt appeared before the Rajasthan High Court today.
"The High Court asked administration about the steps taken to maintain peace in Rajasthan and to calm the Gujjar agitation. There is another hearing tomorrow. Affidavit, progress report has to be filed by administration," said public prosecutor Laxmikant.
Following the High Court's orders to vacate the tracks and roads, the District Collector and I G Police of Bharatpur earlier held talks with Col. Kirori Singh Bainsla and other leaders last night.
The Dausa Collector had also issued a notice to the agitating Gujjars in Sikandra to clear the Jaipur-Agra national highway but there are no signs of the dharna being lifted as yet.
