Auckland duo Martin Guptill and Colin Munro on Sunday displayed a six-hitting exhibition to lead New Zealand to a massive nine-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the second Twenty20.

Chasing a mediocre target of 143, the hosts needed just 10 overs to secure a 2-0 series triumph.

Guptill, who smashed five sixes and six fours in his record innings, scored 63 off 25 balls before being the only wicket to fall at 95-1 in only the seventh over during the run chase.

Munro, the South African-born lefty, then came to his own and smashed seven sixes and one four in his unbeaten 50 off 14 balls.

This was the second fastest half-century in international Twenty20 history and the fastest by a New Zealand batsman.

Earlier, the Lankan batters who were seduced by the short boundaries of the Eden Park, aimed slog after slog at the straight fence, and fell in quick succession.

Angelo Mathews, who showed some resistance with an unbeaten 81, eclipsed his previous best of 58 against England.

Tillakaratne Dilshan with 28 was the only other Sri Lankan to reach double figures as the wickets tumbled.

Grant Elliott was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 for 22 from his full quota.
