Gwyneth Paltrow has accepted the 'New York food bank challenge,' in which she will try to survive on 29 dollars worth food for a week.
The 42-year-old actress took to Twitter to share the news by posting a picture of beans, rice, a dozen eggs, a sweet potato and other food, and captioned it with "this is what 29 dollars gets you at the grocery store-what families on SNAP (i.e. food stamps) have to live on for a week," E! Online reported.
The mother of two had accepted the #FoodBankNYCChallenge, which aims to raise awareness and funds for the city's food banks, from her longtime friend Mario Batali, who has been working to stop the Congress from further cutting food stamp benefits, as it did twice back in 2013.
Paltrow, before nominating a friend to join her, added on her Twitter page that "we're walking in their shoes to see how far we get.
