Pakistan Twenty20 captain Mohammad Hafeez had admitted that his poor form is a concern and is threatening his Test selection for the upcoming series against South Africa to be held at the United Arab Emirates.
The 34- Test opener had managed a paltry 43 in three Tests in South Africa in February-March and failed to improve in the two Tests against Zimbabwe earlier this month, scoring just 59.
According to Sport24, Hafeez's continual poor Test form has put his place in risk for the two-Test series against South Africa starting from October 14, the squad of which is due to be announced on Thursday.
Accepting that it is a concern that he could not score big runs, Hafeez said that he is trying his best to score big, adding that there is no tension or pressure on him.
However, Hafeez also said that such things happen sometimes in cricket even after a player gives his best, adding that he was the Man-of-the-Series for the one-day matches against Zimbabwe, which Pakistan won 2-1 and he scored a century.
Stating that it is the selectors' job to pick a player, Hafeez said that if he is not selected, it would be a challenge for him to work hard, make a comeback and prove that he is good enough to play for Pakistan.
Pakistan and South Africa also play five one-day and two Twenty20 internationals, the report added.
