Pakistan Twenty20 captain Mohammad Hafeez has slammed his critics, saying that his achievements were not being highlighted as he continued to be bashed for his failure.

The 34- Test opener had managed a paltry 43 in three Tests in South Africa in February-March and failed to improve in the two Tests against Zimbabwe earlier this month, scoring just 59.

However, the Express Tribune reports that Hafeez said that criticism should be made for the right reasons, adding that he was named Man of the Series in the ODIs against Zimbabwe, where he had also scored a century and became the top all-rounder.

Stating that his achievements were also an honour for the country, Hafeez said that he is disappointed as people are only focusing on his failures and has failed to see that he has also made considerable achievements for himself and for the team.

The report mentioned that under Hafeez's captaincy, the national team has progressed well in the T20 format, while his form in the one-day internationals (ODI) has also been influential.

Hafeez also dispelled the impression that he was in the Test squad only due to his close friendship with Test and ODI skipper Misbah-ul Haq, stating that this was coming from the same people who had brewed stories of a dispute between him and Misbah.
