Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, who is presently in Cuba to boost bilateral and multilateral ties between the two nations, inaugurated a three-day cultural festival of India in the Latin American country.

Thousands of visitors thronged to witness the classical fusion performance "Nrityarupa" that skillfully blended ancient Indian classical dances.

Visitors at the festival were excited to have a glimpse of Indian culture.

"It is a great opportunity for all of us who love Indian culture, to see live dance, taste Indian food," said Frederick, a Cuban visitor.

"(It's) a unique and special occasion because I love the Indian dance and culture in general. I feel very pleased to be here and honoured to be here," said Gerero, another visitor at the festival.

During his stay, Vice President Ansari will hold wide-ranging bilateral talks with his counterpart Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez.

He is scheduled to call on the President of Cuba, Raul Castro, today.

India and Cuba enjoy historical and cordial relations as founding members of NAM. They maintain close contacts in the multilateral fora on issues of common interest. Bilateral relations are characterised by active cooperation in the field of Energy, Biotechnology and Sports. OVL has an active presence in the Cuban EEZ.
