Hamilton rates Hungarian GP win as most important of career

Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton has revealed that his Hungarian Grand Prix victory is among the most important of his career after the racer achieved his first victory with Mercedes, and the first since the United States Grand Prix in November.

According to BBC, after taking pole on Saturday, Hamilton had expressed that it would be a "miracle" if he won the race because he feared his car would suffer with tyre problems, as has been the case this season, especially in high temperatures.

After winning Hamilton said that he could not be happier and hoped there was much more to come, adding that if the team had good tyres, they could do it anywhere.

Hamilton's victory, his fourth in seven races in Hungary, reduces the gap to championship leader Vettel to 48 points as the sport heads into the four-week summer break and the Mercedes driver is hopeful this result could spur the team on to better things, the report said.

Meanwhile, Hamilton also revealed that his mind had been in a lot of different places and his mum and dad have been calling and messaging him to lift his spirits, making the much needed difference, the report added.
