Delhi Police Commissioner B.S Bassi on Thursday said Delhi Police will be introducing a new helpline number 1093 for people of North East residing in Delhi to register their complaints.
"During the Delhi Police Week, which starts from the 16th of February, the Delhi Police will be discussing ways in which there can be better protection for the vulnerable sections of society," said Bassi.
"Also, we will be introducing a new number 1093 to register complaints from the people of North East residing in Delhi for their better protection," he said.
This step has been taken by the Delhi Police following the murder of Arunachal Pradesh student Nido Tainam on January 29.
Students from the North East have been objecting to the wide-scale discrimination meted out to hapless youngsters from the region going to the national capital every year looking for better education and career opportunities.
