Ecuador's Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino has reportedly discovered a hidden microphone from the Ecuador's London Embassy where WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange habeen holed up for almost a year.

According to the Guardian, Patino discovered the interception device inside the office of the Ecuadorean ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ana Alban during his visit to the embassy to meet with British Foreign Secretary William Hague to discuss Assange on June 16.

Patino said that he did not bring up the issue before because he did not want his visit to London to hold talks on Julian Assange be confused with accusations over the surveillance device found in the ambassador's office.

He further said the authorities first wanted to ascertain with precision the origin of the interception device in the office of our ambassador adding that it is another instance of a loss of ethics at the international level in relations between governments.

The report said that the microphone was discovered in a different room to the one Assange currently lives in.

Assange who has been holed up in the Embassy for a year faces extradition to Sweden on sexual assault charges which he denies, and if he is extradited to Sweden he may be then sent back to US where he is charges with leaking thousands of US classified data on WikiLeaks.

Foreign Office in London, and David Cameron's spokesperson declined commenting on the issue, the report said.
