Australian cricketer Brad Hogg turns 43 in February but refuses to contemplate retirement and will not rule out playing until he is 50, according to reports.

According to News.com.au, Hogg's mystery spin was lethal to the Heat's batsmen on Sunday night as he snared three wickets in an age-defying performance that almost toppled the reigning Big Bash champions.

He credits his Gen-Y teammates at the Perth Scorchers - who have nicknamed him Brick due to his likeness to actor Steve Carell's character in the hit movie Anchorman - for helping to keep him young at heart, the report said.

He recently told Perth coach Justin Langer he would have to kick him out of the team because he would not retire, the report added.

Asked if could play until the age of 50; Hogg said that he wants to go for as long as he can.

The Australian one-day veteran, who has 123 50-over games to his credit, could realistically play past the age of 45, the report further said.
