Flood victims in Narian village of Jammu and Kashmir have demanded government help for their resettlement, after being rendered homeless due to the calamity.

These victims have been living in tents for the past two months, after their homes were washed away by the floods that hit the region earlier in August.

The victims claimed to have not received any help despite the relief work going on in full swing across the state.

"Ever since floods took away everything, we have been living on roadside in a tent. We have small kids and have not received any help so far. It is becoming very cold due to winter, we are falling ill and no doctor has ever visited us, we do not have medicines or food," said Shamim Akther, who is one of the victims rendered homeless due to floods.

With the winter approaching, the temperatures are falling sharply in Kashmir. This is affecting the people who have been left homeless.

"My land and house were washed away during the floods, I don't have anything left with me, we don't have anything to eat. I have kids and family to look after, how can I feed them by just doing labour work. I request the government to provide us shelter and food. With the winter approaching kids are falling sick and we don't have any access to medicines," said one of the victims Mohammed Azam.

Earlier this month, incessant rains had resulted in landslides, flash floods and rising water levels in all rivers of Jammu and Kashmir.
