Teenage student, Joshua Wong, who became an icon of Hong Kong pro-democracy protests, has ended his hunger strike after four days.

Wong said that he was ending his 108-hour-long strike on the advice of a doctor, reported the BBC. However, he added that the protests will go on as three other students still refused food.

Announcing the end of the strike on his Facebook page, Wong said that he felt "extreme physical discomfort, dizziness and weakness in the limbs."

The teenage student and other fellow students began an indefinite hunger strike on Monday to persuade the government to resume talks on electoral reforms. The government however, has refused to make any concessions.

Activists have been occupying streets and holding demonstrations to oppose Beijing's decision to vet candidates in 2017 elections.
