The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has expressed serious concern opposing the decision to set up military courts in the country to try terror suspects saying that "the decision undermines the judiciary".

Chairperson of the commission Zohra Yusuf said that the commission was dismayed to see that all political parties agreed to set up the military courts, reported Dawn News.

Yusuf also said that the decision showed "a lack of confidence" in Pakistan's strong and independent judicial system.

She also said that the commission believed that there was a need to strengthen the investigation and prosecution system and that a reform was needed.

Parliamentary leaders reached the consensus in a meeting at the Prime Minister House on Wednesday to set up military courts to tackle terrorism in the country.
