The Income Tax Department is conducting raids and searches at multiple premises linked to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader CM Ramesh on Friday.

Income Tax (IT) sources said nearly 60 IT officials conducted raids at several homes situated in Kadapa and also at an office of a company owned by Ramesh's relatives.

Raids are also being conducted at Rithwik Projects Pvt. Ltd, the company promoted by Ramesh. A raid is also underway at his partners' residences.

According to sources, as a member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Ramesh had issued a notice to the IT department to furnish details about the raids being conducted at premises related to TDP leaders in the state. However, merely three days after the notice was issued, the IT department conducted raids at his residence and offices.

Speaking to the media in the wake of the raids, Ramesh claimed that it was a clear cut case of political vendetta.

"A clear-cut case of political vendetta, Centre has been targeting our leaders from last 15 days. The same thing happened in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal and now Andhra Pradesh, whoever is opposing them is being targeted," he said.

Further details pertaining to the raids are awaited.
