Idris Elba has dethroned Blake Shelton to become the 'Sexiest Man Alive'.
The announcement was made on the 'Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.'
"Come on, no way. Really?'" the 46-year-old told People magazine when he found out about his new title. "Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, 'Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.' But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise - an ego boost for sure."
The 'Thor' actor even took to social media to share his excitement and said he is "honoured and thankful" for the title.
Elba is known for HBO's crime drama series 'The Wire'. His other notable roles include the titular detective 'Luther', Heimdall in Thor movies, Nelson Mandela in the biopic, and the villain Shere Khan in The Jungle Book.
Other honorees of the title include Dwayne Johnson (2016), David Beckham (2015), Chris Hemsworth (2014), Adam Levine (2013), Channing Tatum (2012), Bradley Cooper (2011), Ryan Reynolds (2010), Johnny Depp (2009) and Hugh Jackman (2008), among others.
On the work front, Elba is currently shooting for the 'Fast & Furious' spin-off 'Hobbs & Shaw'.
