Imran's PTI firm on boycotting of Parliament

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said that his party remains firm on its decision to boycott the joint session of parliament to be held later this week.

He said that holding a joint session parliament under a controversial prime minister like Nawaz Sharif who is facing charges of corruption, was something his party would like to avoid.

He was talking to media representatives outside his Bani Gala residence.

Asserting that unjust treatment was being meted out to his party workers, PTI chief said that it was impossible for party members to go to parliament.

"We welcome the Turkish president to Pakistan but at the same time, we do not want to endorse a prime minister who has broken the country's law and has engaged in corruption," the Dawn quoted Khan, as saying.

The Turkish President will be arriving on a two-day official visit in Pakistan this week. The government plans to convene a special joint sitting of parliament on November 17 to enable the Turkish president to address lawmakers.

The cricketer turned politician criticised the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz, saying, it was evident that the government had changed its position several times in relation to its corruption in the past seven months.

Khan added that proceedings in the apex court would further show how much the government has lied.

On the Panama Gate case, he said that the government was telling more lies to hide its previous deceits.

Khan said that his party has faith in the judiciary and would accept whatever it decides.
