Later while addressing mediapersons over the incident, the General Commanding Officer (GOC) of the army's Victor Force, Major General R. R. Nimbodkar expressed his condolences to the bereaved families.
"We deeply mourn their demise and loss of lives. And through you I want to convey our deep condolences to the bereaved families. Secondly, we are investigating the details of the incident. I can assure you if any wrong doing emerges, appropriate action will be taken," he said.
Reportedly, one youth was killed by army firing while another one was killed when army allegedly opened fire when the crowds intensified their protests later on.
While the locals are reportedly alleging that the firing was uncalled-for, the army are denying it tooth and nail.
