One of the top Universities of US - University of Southern California, School of Cinematic Arts, where the likes of George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis (Forest Gump), Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind), Conrad Hall and a plethora of legends and Oscar winning greats have studied, will screen ground-breaking Indian film 'CRD' by Kranti Kanade as part of their syllabus series "Outside the Box (office)".
It is a weekly showcase of upcoming releases highlighting world cinema and independent films.
Recognising a need for greater diversity on campus, the series will draw from around the globe to present movies that may challenge or inspire.
Critics around the world are calling 'CRD' bold, brilliant and subversive, charming and fearless, and something that no Indian film has done before. This astonishing film heralds the arrival of a bold new voice in world cinema where all limits are breached and boundaries crossed. Be prepared for a breathtaking journey, the likes of which you've never been on before.
'CRD' is set in the world of college theatre and probes fascism and fierce competition in the field of arts, with a wildly innovative style.
Kranti Kanade explores if art could be placed in the context of a competition and where to draw the line. Probing the obsession around 'winning', he stages an ideological debate between totalitarianism versus free spirit and status quo versus breaking away.
Multiple National Award winning director Kranti Kanade's forthcoming film 'Gandhi Of The Month' stars the legendary Hollywood actor Harvey Keitel, Neeraj Kabi and other luminous Indian actors.
His children's film 'Mahek' won International awards and played at numerous festivals around the world. His short film 'Chaitra' won five National Film Awards, and was India's official entry to the Student Oscars.
'CRD' is written by Yuva Sahitya Akademi Winning Writer Dharmakirti Sumant, Director of Photography is Daniel Katz who's short film 'Curfew' won Oscar, and the music is by Emmy Award Winning Composer Garth Neustadter.
