Keeping in view of the growing crisis in Iraq, the Indian Government on Sunday advised its citizens to refrain from travelling to that country until further notification is received on the same.
The Ministry of External Affairs has asked Indian nationals in Iraq to consider leaving the country by commercial means only if it is safe to do so, and has advised those living in the areas affected by the ongoing armed conflict to stay indoors as far as possible and remain in contact with the Indian Embassy in Baghdad for necessary advice and updated information on the evolving security situation.
The MEA has also asked those nationals who do not have travel documents or need other consular services to seek assistance from the Indian Embassy in Baghdad.
A 24 hour helpline has also been set up which can be accessed for information or assistance from the Indian Embassy in Baghdad.
