In a bid to create a more inclusive environment for working women, the Indian High Commission in Pakistan on Tuesday inaugurated a creche- a nursery to take care of babies and young children- for the working spouses of its officials.

The creche was inaugurated by environmentalist Bharati Chaturvedi and High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria.

Taking to its Twitter handle, the High Commission lauded the initiative as "another step to make the workplace inclusive and sensitive to working mothers!"

"Ms. Bharati Chaturvedi and High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria inaugurated a creche in the High Commission for working spouses of its officials. Another step to make the workplace inclusive and sensitive to working mothers! @Ajaybis @Bharati09," read the tweet.

Chaturvedi, too, hailed the initiative and said such support systems are necessary everywhere "if women are to be part of the workforce."

"Pretty neat, IMHO. The Indian High Commission Pak sets up a creche so mothers can work plus breathe easy about their children. We need such support systems everywhere if women are to be part of the workforce. @MinistryWCD @unwomenindia @JKaziunwomen @CBhattacharji @JUNAIDWBG" she tweeted.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by a number of women along with their children as a mark of support towards the initiative.
