Indo-Pak problems should be sorted out bilaterally through dialogue: CPI

The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Saturday backed NSA-level talks, saying that India and Pakistan should sort out the problem bilaterally through dialogue for South Asia's well being.

"Only India and Pakistan should sort out the problem bilaterally through dialogue. There is no alternative to dialogue that is how we understand the situation. We wish both countries, as early as possible, resolve the problems and become good neighbours for the well-being and for the future of South Asia," the CPI leader D. Raja told ANI.

Raja believes that there is a lack of clarity between the union home ministry and the Jammu and Kashmir government and both should act in coordination as they are a coalition.

"They must have proper understanding and clarity on what they do or what they do not want to do," he said.

"Both countries should go for talks with open mind, with having some trust in each other. What is lacking is trust; there is deficit of trust and we should trust each other and we should go for talks with open mind, then only talks can be meaningful," he added.

Earlier, Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that it would be impossible for the country to accept the advice of the Government on India that Sartaj Aziz, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's Advisor on Foreign Affairs and National Security, may not meet the Hurriyat leaders.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is scheduled to meet his Pakistani counterpart Sartaj Aziz for the talks in the national capital on Sunday.
