After a CNN correspondent bit two medics in an inebriated state at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad; the state department of the United States has reportedly launched an investigation into the case.

Foreign correspondent Arwa Damon abused two medics stationed in the embassy and bit them on the forearms while they were trying to treat her on July 19, the New York Post reported. She also threatened them by saying that she was a major reporter with the CNN.

The embassy has filed a two million dollar lawsuit against CNN and the correspondent in Manhattan on Monday, the report said. The suit claims that the mediahouse chose to hire Damon knowing that she had indulged in drunken and abusive behavior in the past and had displayed violence even when sober.

Damon later wrote a letter of apology to the embassy claiming that she didn't fully remember her disastrous behavior. She also explained that she had not had proper food during the day and had no idea how her body would handle the alcohol consumed.

Meanwhile the US state department has reportedly prepared a report on the incident and sent it to CNN. However, CNN said that they had no knowledge of any such lawsuit being filed and refused to comment.
