The Meteorological department on Sunday said that the intense cold and foggy conditions will continue in North India over the next few days, adding that the region could experience some respite from the fog in January.
"Conditions are not likely to improve. The cold and fog will continue over next two-three days. From January 31 onwards, the foggy conditions might change due to strong westerly winds," BP Yadav of the Meteorological Department told ANI.
Yadav further said that the region is experiencing intense cold because of the significantly below-normal temperatures during the day.
"There is persistent cold, with today's temperature being lowest in the season so far. There is intense cold and fog in the capital today, with visibility levels touching as low as 50 meters. The temperatures during the day are significantly below normal," he stated.
North India is reeling under an intense cold wave, with minimum temperatures in the national capital reaching 2.7 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
