Iran has agreed to offer more information and expanded access to the United Nations nuclear inspectors, including more openings at a planned reactor and uranium site.

Secretary of State John Kerry, however, said that negotiators had been extremely close to reaching a deal, but Iranian envoys backed away from a wider deal seeking to ease Western concerns that Tehran was heading towards developing atomic capability.

Iranian officials, meanwhile, reiterated the pact reached with the UN nuclear chief Yukiya Amano as a "roadmap" for greater cooperation and transparency, which could move the negotiations ahead, News24 reports.

The talks between Iran and world powers in Geneva had failed last weekend in finalizing a deal that could curb Tehran's uranium enrichment in exchange for a rollback in some of the U.S.-led economic sanctions.

The Iranian plans, however, did not mention some of the sites most sought by UN teams to probe suspicions of nuclear-related work, including the Parchin military facility outside Tehran.
