The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has extended condolences to the families of the victims and the people and Government of Iran, over the plane crash in the country that claimed 66 lives.
A statement released by Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the Secretary-General, read, "The Secretary-General was deeply saddened to learn of the tragic airplane accident today near Yasuj, Iran.The Secretary-General extends his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and to the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
On Sunday, 66 people were killed after a commercial plane crashed in a mountainous area in central Iran.
Aseman Airline's Tehran-Yasuj flight, which had taken off from Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran disappeared from the radars within 50 minutes and crashed near Semirom city in the Padena Mountain in southern Isfahan province.
