Islamic State militants have reportedly prohibited football lovers in their territory from watching the sport as they threatened to mete out an 80-lash penalty to anyone caught watching the El Clasico clash between Barcelona and Real Madrid last weekend.
According to the Daily Star, a Kurdistan source said that IS prohibits watching and playing any sport, particularly football as it is seen as a product of the decadent West.
Cafes and Restaurants in IS-captured territory had reportedly been told to shut down when the pulsating thriller between the two Spanish giants commenced.
Earlier this year, IS militants had executed a group of 13 teenage football fans caught watching a match.
