The video of American journalist James Foley's beheading by the Islamic State militants may have been staged with the actual murder taking place off camera, say forensic experts.

An international forensic science company said that camera trickery and post-production techniques were used in the video.

The execution may have taken place after the camera was stopped, said a forensic expert.

The expert also said that no blood could be seen in the video and the sounds made by Foley were not consistent.

A Middle Eastern think-tank Aymenn al-Tamimi said that the IS militants have improved the quality of their videos over the recent years, reported news.com.au.
