Congress leader Jagdambika Pal on Monday hit out at Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, presently in New Delhi for the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting, and said that the responsibility given to the latter so far has not been favourable for the saffron outfit.

"A 17-year-old ally, the JD (U), split only because Modi was elevated as the campaign committee chief. Moreover, Advaniji did not attend the Goa conclave and resigned from all party posts after Modi was given the charge. Several important BJP leaders also did not attend the Goa conclave," said Pal.

"What will happen if he is given a bigger responsibility?" he added.

Senior BJP leader Ananth Kumar said after the Parliamentary Board meeting today that his party is ready to face snap polls if the ruling Congress Party opts for it.

Highlighting the failures of the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre, he said the BJP would go to polls with development and good governance as its main agenda.

Kumar further alleged that the Congress brought the Ordinance on the Food Security, as it was not confident of getting the support of its allies in the Parliament.

The BJP's Parliamentary Board met today for the second time in a week to continue discussing election strategy and other political matters.

Senior BJP leaders Lal Krishna Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, party chief Rajnath Singh and Gujarat Chief Minister and party's campaign committee chief Narendra Modi were among those present in today's meeting.
