After being released from preventive custody, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) working president M. K. Stalin on Friday said the statement of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam has come as a relief to them.

"The statement of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has come as a relief," Stalin told the media here.

Appreciating the youth for their massive support in favour of bull taming sport Jallikattu, Stalin said they have been leading various protests on the same across the state.

"We've been spearheading various protests on Jallikattu and we appreciate the efforts by our youth," he said.

This comes after Panneerselvam earlier today announced that a draft of ordinance has been sent to the Home Ministry and that it would be passed within a couple of days.

However, the sea of protesters continued to swell on the Marina beach in Chennai for the fourth day on Friday as supporters of Jallikattu staged their protest.

The Tamil Nadu Government has been repeatedly urging the Centre to issue an ordinance for the Jallikattu sport, which is held during the Tamil harvest festival Pongal.

Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi mentioned the matter before the apex court bench headed by Chief Justice of India Jagdish Singh Khehar.

"The Central Government and the state government are trying to solve the issue," Rohatgi told the apex court bench.

The submissions, which were made to the court by the Centre, were accepted by the apex court.

The apex court had earlier in its order banned Jallikattu by terming it as a 'cruelty' to the animal.
