The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been closed due to landslides which occurred due to continuous rainfall over the last three days.

The Indian Army personnel are making all attempts to clear the landslide.

The Indian Army today assisted the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and Border Road Task Force (BRTF) to clear the landslides on Jammu - Srinagar National Highway.

The people, who live in the nearby villages, are the worst suffers. They have to walk over the landslides-hit area on National Highway to reach their destination.

"In view of the worsening flood situation in Kashmir and inundation of hundreds of villages, the Army has intensified 'Mission Sahayata' employing more than 60 Army columns and 13 engineer teams tirelessly working to rescue precious lives trapped in flooded villages, isolated houses and multi-storied buildings in the inundated areas all over Kashmir," said Public Relation Officer (PRO), Defence, Northern Command, Col S D Goswami.

The Indian Army is also providing tented accommodation to hundreds of people and the number is increasing rapidly.

"'Operation Rahat II' was meticulously planned and executed under the most challenging environment. The response of the Air Force in the short reaction time speaks volumes about the professionalism and ability to operate under the most testing conditions," he added.
