All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) chief Jayalalithaa on Tuesday criticized DMK supremo M Karunanidhi saying that his recent support to ruling Congress was with a motive to save the party's name from scam allegations.

Addressing a rally in Coimbatore, Jayalalithaa, said that DMK chief was betraying Tamils by extending support to Congress party.

"Currently Karunanidhi maintains that his party is ready to support Congress party of it is ready to step back to its secular stance. If that is the case, his claim regarding his exit from the alliance for the cause of Sri Lankan Tamil issue was a lie. In its actuality, it shows that he does not have any regard for Tamil people and Tamil community. The only motive behind his statement is to come out of the 2G scam at any cost," said Jayalalithaa.

Wooing the voters, AIADMK chief did not fail to point out the scam ridden governance of the Congress party for last 10 years. She also promised punishment of those involved in corruption in India.

"Before independence, people always had the intention to drive English people out of the nation. Similarly, Congress party which looted and gambled with the country should be thrown away," she added.
