The Teachers Association of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital (JNIMS) started cease work strike and demanded immediate replacement of the Director in Charge of JNIMS.
The OPD was closed on Monday. There was no routine operation, casualty service and teaching programme. Only the patients who were already admitted were attended.
"A memorandum was earlier submitted to the chief minister of the state on April 17 putting up various demands which includes implementation of time scale promotion, promotion of all the eligible teachers to the next higher posts as per minimum qualifications for teachers in medical institutions regulations 1998, appointment of regular director and medical superintendent as per central service rules, regular salary disbursement by the 5th of every month and inclusion of two members of the association in the JNIMS governing council, reservation of 50% of the PG seats available in the institute of JNIMS only till all the non PG SRs/Tutors/Demonstrators get their respective MS/MD and the entrance examination to be conducted by the institute for the sponsored in service candidates only," Dr N Jitendra, Spokesperson, Teachers' Association, JNIMS,
After a general body meeting was held on April 16, Jitendra said that the meeting resolved to urge government for replacement of the incompetent director in charge, M Shyamo.
He added that the director in charge doesn't take initiative to meet the demands put up by the association and during the crisis of agitation he had taken casual leave for six days which is unacceptable.
