Actor Joaquin Phoenix will be starring as 'Joker' in Warner Bros. origin movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 'Her' actor has signed the deal and the shooting will begin in September in New York.
Directed by Todd Phillip and co-written by Silver Scot and him, the film can be described as, "exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale."
The project will be a stand-alone picture for the Batman nemesis 'Joker' with a budget of 55 million dollars and will be dark and experimental in the approach.
The release dates aren't revealed yet, but the project might be ready for release in 2019.
