Johnson admits he mulled retirement post Ashes defeat

Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Johnson has admitted that he considered calling it quits after four of his closest teammates retired from the Test arena following the team's failure to retain the Ashes series against England.

Johnson provided able support to the Australian bowling department by claiming three important wickets as New Zealand were bundled out for 317 replying to Australia's first innings score of 556-4 declared in the first Test in Brisbane.

Despite playing a vital role, Johnson revealed that he considered taking a call on his Test career after seeing Michael Clarke, Shane Watson, Brad Haddin and Chris Rogers retire during the Ashes loss, News.com.au reported.

The 34-year-old left-hander said that he had played a lot of cricket with them and that their decision made him question himself.

However, Johnson added that he started getting a 'little fire in the belly' when played in the domestic cricket and insisted that he has still got a long way to go.
