Joni Mitchell official website has denied that the singer is in a coma after petition for conservatorship called her "unconscious and unable to make any responses."
As per the statement posted to the artist' site, contrary to rumors circulating on the Internet recently, the 71-year-old singer is not in a coma, adding that she is still in the hospital, but she comprehends, she's alert and has her full senses, E! Online reported.
The statement reads that a full recovery is expected, adding that the document obtained by a certain media outlet simply gives her longtime friend Leslie Morris the authority, in the absence of 24-hour doctor care, to make care decisions for Mitchell once she leaves the hospital.
It added that "strong-willed" Mitchell is nowhere near giving up the fight, requesting fans to keep her in their thoughts.
Meanwhile, the temporary-conservatorship petition filed today on Morris' behalf in Los Angeles Superior Court do state that the proposed conservatee Mitchell suffered a medical emergency in late March and was taken to UCLA Medical Center, where she remains at this time.
