Indian shuttler Jwala Gutta on Thursday expressed her happiness after the Delhi High Court on Thursday allowed her to participate in the upcoming tournaments till the Badminton Association of India (BAI) continued its probe on the issue of her alleged indiscipline.
"I am very happy," she said after the High court's decision.
Jwala Gutta's father Kranti Gutta, echoing similar sentiments, said that the Court has given the right directive, and asserted that the allegations against the Indian shuttler were completely baseless.
"We are happy, and the court has given the right directive. The allegations were baseless
They (BAI) have behaved in a very autocratic way, and no sports association should trouble the players. I thank all those who were with us in this issue. Jwala will be back to Hyderabad by evening, and we will get the exact picture of how other things are," he said in Hyderabad.
Earlier in the day, the court observed that till the final view is taken by the committee, she should be allowed to take part in the tournament.
BAI's disciplinary committee, last week, had recommended a life-ban on Jwala Gutta for allegedly trying to stop her Krrish Delhi Smashers teammates from playing a match against Banga Beats in the recent Indian Badminton League (IBL).
Gutta approached the High Court challenging BAI's decision to recommend a life ban on her for alleged indiscipline in the IBL.
BAI on Wednesday had withdrawn Gutta's participation in the upcoming Denmark Open without informing her.
