Kalyan Singh thanks party for being appointed Rajasthan Governor(Update)

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh, who has now been appointed the Governor of Rajasthan, thanked his party for his appointment and vowed to work for the betterment of the state.

"I am going to Rajasthan, which I am happy about, and I would like to thank the party for appointing me to this post," he said, adding, "I am going to maintain the dignity of the Governor's office. I hope to work as the state government's friend and not as a competitor," Singh told ANI.

"I know that this post entails huge responsibility and I am going to Rajasthan as the 'sewak', not as the Governor. It is my great fortune that the CM Vasundhara Raje is able, decisive and popular," he added.

Earlier today, the new Governors of Rajasthan, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa were announced by the President.

Kalyan Singh was made the Governor of Rajasthan; former Speaker of the Gujarat Vidhan Sabha Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala was made the Governor of Karnataka while former Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha president Mridula Sinha took over as the Governor of Goa.

Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao also took over as the Governor of Maharashtra, replacing former Governor K Sankaranarayanan.
