Actor Kamal Haasan has been summoned by a court here over his alleged controversial statement on Mahabharat.
The court has asked the actor to appear before it on May 5, 2017. The court issued the summons while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL).
The PIL alleged that the actor insulted Hindu sentiments by making objectionable remarks about Hindu epic Mahabharata.
In March 2017, Haasan reportedly told a Tamil News Channel that India was a country which respected and honoured a book (Mahabharat) in which a woman Panchali was depicted as an object and was used as a collateral in gambling by Pandvas.
