Kanye West is all set to be awarded with an honorary doctorate from School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), it has been revealed.
Lisa Wainwright, dean of faculty and vice president of academic administration at the SAIC, told The Chicago Tribune that she had secured the 37-year-old rapper the honor after reading an interview in which the rapper said he wished he did attend the school, the Verge reported.
Wainwright said the Chicago-born rapper deserved an honorary doctorate because he was "a major figure in the cultural landscape" who said that "art school was cool".
The school has earlier conferred the honor to well-known musicians and writers such as Patti Smith and David Sedaris.
The 'Stronger' hitmaker will receive the award on May 11th.
