The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has condemned a statement made by the media adviser of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah against Prime Minister Narendra Modi with regard to the government's decision to ban NDTV India for a day on Wednesday and demanded that he be sacked immediately.
Chief Minister Siddaramiah's media adviser Dinesh Amin Mattu had said, "We all know what happened to Indira Gandhi at the end of the emergency (in 1975-77). Do you want that to happen to Modi too?"
AIADMK leader Tamilisai Soundararajan told ANI, "It is very surprising and pathetic. Nobody is concerned about the security of this country. What is the BJP government going to gain by stopping the broadcast of the channel for one day? Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah's media adviser has threatened our Prime Minister? Action should be taken against him. The chief minister of Karnataka should clarify whether he endorses his media advisor's views or not and at the same time should condemn the statement."
The Karnataka unit of the BJP has filed a complaint against Mattu. Its IT wing has asked for an FIR to be filed against him for his comments against Prime Minister Modi.
The BJP said Mattu's comments could provoke communal riots and described it as an act of 'criminal intimidation.
