Karnataka Police has taken action against the three people who allegedly attacked a Manipuri student yesterday, state Home Minister K J George said on Thursday.
George added that while the incident was unfortunate, it was also isolated.
"It was an unfortunate incident but it was an isolated incident. The police has already taken action against those three people who were arrested. I also requested the Police Commissioner to call the North East Association people and assure them that the entire government and police are with them," said George.
A 24-year-old engineering student from Manipur named T Michael Lamjathang was beaten up and forced to speak in Kannada by three miscreants in Bangalore.
The incident occurred at around 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday when Lamjathang was standing along the roadside with his two other friends after returning from a police station where he had gone to take permission for an upcoming cultural festival.
In yet another incident of crime against North easterners, two Nagaland youths were reportedly beaten up and assaulted by a gang in Gurgaon.
