Leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday hit out at Congress-led UPA Government over the issue of civilian killings in the state, by saying that ' Kashmir is like a colony of India'.

"We have to decide whether we will behave like a 'colony' or should we work for the people here," she said in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly here.

The PDP had moved an adjournment motion on the issue of recent killings including those of Shopian in September and the Gool incident, and accused the state government for not taking action against the forces.

"The first thing that any government should do is register an FIR, but even that took time in Shopian," she said.

"It is a matter of accountability, if under the pressure of the BJP and others in New Delhi the government made a minister resign for Kishtwar violence why can't the same accountability be displayed in the cases like Gool incident and 2010 killings of youth in the state", she added.

Earlier on September 12, curfew was reimposed in Shopian town following death of a youth in firing by security forces a day before.

The protestors were demanding removal of the CRPF camp and arrest of the personnel involved in firing incident on September 7 that left four persons dead, including three civilians.

A bandh was called by separatists and civil society groups to protest against the killing of four persons in CRPF firing.
