Goa Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Babu Kavlekar has invited Goan Business Community residing in the Gulf country to invest in agricultural projects in his state.

"Goa is developing as an organic agriculture state. With an eye on Goa's future, I appeal to the Goan business community in the Gulf to invest in organic agriculture projects in the state," Kavlekar said on the occasion of World Goa Day that was celebrated by Goans in Doha on Friday.

The deputy chief minister was the chief guest for the Dinner Dance that concluded last night. The programme, organised by the Goan Welfare Association, was also attended by Indian Ambassador to Qatar P Kumaran and Portuguese Ambassador to Qatar Ricardo Pracana apart from nearly 1,000 Goans from surrounding other five Gulf countries including the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Oman.

This annual programme is organised to celebrate the inclusion of Konkani as an official language in the 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution in 1992. This was the first occasion that a representative from the Goan government attended the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Kavlekar said: "Goan farmers are already engaged in traditional farming. If we implement modern technologies, we can make an impact on the international stage, regarding organic farming.
