After Naresh Yadav, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA was named in an FIR related to a recent case of alleged 'desecration' of the Quran, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today took pot shots at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and alleged that he is the mastermind behind such acts.
Asserting that the AAP is resorting to new lows everyday to win in Punjab, BJP leader Satish Upadhyay said, "Till now AAP MLAs were getting booked for corruption, violence and their wrong behaviour but this new case is a very serious case. This case concerns the tranquillity in the nation. In the wake of Assembly elections in Punjab this party is stooping so low."
"What is to be seen here is that who is the mastermind behind this mentality? Who directed Naresh Yadav to do this? The figures here point towards the AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal, he might have directed Naresh Yadav to do such a thing," he added.
Yadav earlier today downplayed the allegations levelled against him and said that the 'restless' SAD-BJP alliance in Punjab was hatching conspiracies.
The AAP MLA told ANI that the alliance has become restless as the people of Punjab have decided to give absolute majority to the AAP in the upcoming assembly elections.
The fresh charges against the AAP MLA came as a major blow to the party, which is gearing for the 2017 polls in the state.
The Sangrur Police booked Yadav after the alleged mastermind in the case, Vijay Kumar, disclosed that he had desecrated the Quran at the behest of the Mehrauli MLA and was offered Rs. one crore for the same.
