The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday advised Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal to respect democracy and the Constitution of India.
According to the BJP, the post of the Lieutenant Governor (LG) is a constitutional post and demeaning a constitutional institution like the LG's office is not right.
The BJP's remarks came in light of Kejriwal's statement that Jung was favouring the BJP to form the government in Delhi.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said, "It is very appalling that Kejriwal has time and again subverted constitutional posts and has ridiculed them. You cannot demean constitutional institutions of this country and say that you are upholding the democracy. My sincere advice to Kejriwal would be that he should learn to respect the democracy and the constitutionality of India."
"The same AAP was calling the same LG a Congress Party agent a few months ago, and today, they are calling him a BJP agent," Patra added.
He further said, "Kejriwal has referred to himself as an anarchist. He had sat on a 'Dharna' at India Gate and he had questioned why August 15 should be celebrated."
Earlier on Tuesday, Kejriwal had said that the Lieutenant Governor needs to revise his letter to President Pranab Mukherjee and tell him that the BJP shouldn't be invited to form a government in Delhi after the sting operation conducted by the party, in which BJP leader Sher Singh Dagar had allegedly tried to bribe AAP MLAs.
Kejriwal also said that the party would be filing an FIR and a petition with the Election Commission against the BJP on the basis of the sting operation.
