The former 'Atomic Kitten' star, who recently declared her bankruptcy, said that she was thrilled to have been given this opportunity to play one of the world's biggest female icons.
She insisted that she couldn't wait to get to work.
Katona added that has always aimed for a successful career in drama and this role is a challenge, but she is going to grab it both hands.
Katona's first performance will be at an industry-only audience in central London on 22 September.
