American Television personality Kim Kardashian West was slammed for her tweet supporting a death row prisoner.
Kardashian in her tweet urged for a DNA test in the case.
In her tweet, Kardashian wrote, "Governor Brown, please add Kevin Cooper to your legacy of smart, fair and thoughtful criminal justice reforms." Along with it, she shared an article by The New York Times.
District Attorney of San Bernardino County (California), Mike Ramos said that his office stands behind the conviction of Kevin Cooper, who was charged with the murder of four people in 1983, reported TMZ.
Ramos added that he is certain that Cooper committed the crime.
However, Cooper maintained that he is innocent and even suggested he was framed.
Reacting on Kardashian's tweet, Ramos said, "It's time that we start talking and 'tweeting' about the victims who were brutally murdered in the sanctity of their home."
"This latest attempt to free Kevin Cooper is nothing more than a red herring and another slap in the face of the victims and their family members who were forced to suffer a lifetime of pain," he added.
Cooper expressed his gratitude towards Kardashian for putting the case in the spotlight. Governor Jerry Brown has reportedly ignored the DNA request so far.
