Retired Indian Police Service officer Kiran Bedi on Saturday urged the political parties to come under the ambit of Right To Information Act (RTI).
Kiran Bedi said that political parties should stop being opaque and agree to be transparent. She said: "We need to get out of double standards; there has to be transparency. Political parties should stop being opaque."
" I would like to thank the Chief Information Commissioner and the Association for Democratic Reforms for going beyond barriers to throw light on the truth," said Bedi.
According to reports the government is considering issue of an ordinance to strike down a landmark order of the Central Information Commission that brought political parties under the ambit of Right to Information (RTI) Act.
Most parties do not want to be brought under the ambit of RTI and the ordinance is likely to find bipartisan support at a time when the government has had difficulties in getting crucial legislations passed in Parliament.
