Kiwi golfer Michael Campbell rated as worst Major winners in last 50 yrs

An US sports broadcasting company has reportedly taken a shot at New Zealand golfer Michael Campbell, naming him as one of the worst golfers to win a major in the last half century.

CBS Sports ranked Campbell, who won the 2005 US Open, in fifth based on his unseemly record on the American PGA tour given that the win was his only victory in the States.

According to Stuff.co.nz, Campbell, who won 15 times in all and was named the 2005 European Tour Player of the Year after a magical season, also spent six years of his career ranked in the top 50 players in the world and was consistently inside the top 20 with a peak ranking of 12 in 2001, years before his US Open victory.

However, the report mentioned that Campbell also had a widely reported form slump since 2005 and CBS noted his 0-for-10 cut making record at the Masters, which included an 11-over par 83 in 2010.

There were much worse players than Campbell on the list, with Rich Beem and Australian's Ian Baker-Finch and Wayne Grady receiving mentions, the report added.
